BADC CLE Program “Civil Practice in the Superior Court” Successfully Combines Insight from Judges and Practitioners Organized by Joel Bennett, BADC Treasurer and Publications Chair, and Nicholas McConnell, FBADC Trustee and Past BADC President, the October 30 evening program “Civil Practice in the Superior Court- Filing, Prosecuting and Concluding Cases — Getting It Done Right, On Time, Every Time” drew over 60 attendees from a variety of civil practice areas and at different levels of experience. Five panels of judges and civil litigators addressed topics including initiating the lawsuit, pretrial discovery, motions practice, mediation, and pretrials. “There was something for everyone and it was nice to get a variety of perspectives from so many different judges and attorneys,” concluded Nick McConnell who moderated the three hour program. BADC thanks the following for their valuable participation on the panels: Hon. Brook Hedge, Hon. Geoffrey Alprin, Hon. Joan Zeldon, Hon. Melvin Wright, Hon. Stephanie Duncan-Peters and Sandra H. Robinson, David H. Cox, Joel P. Bennett, Dwight D. Murray, Patrick M. Regan, Cynthia L. Santoni, Keith M. Bonner, Paulette E. Chapman, Gary W. Brown, and Gerard E. Mitchell. The program was CLE approved for 3 credits from Virginia and Pennsylvania. and included the 300 page practice manual, “A Practitioner’s Guide: CIVIL TRIAL Practice in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia” (2004 Edition) Edited by Nicholas S.
