The Lawyer Referral Service is comprised of practitioners licensed and in good standing in the District of Columbia. Once enrolled the member becomes part of the panel and paired with potential clients.
BADC members who wish to become LRS panel members must submit:
- Completed application (Download PDF)
- Signed copy of the LRS Rules and Regulations
- Payment of the panel fee which is $100 for regular members and $200 for Personal Injury practitioners
- Proof of malpractice insurance policy indicating current coverage
All panel attorneys are required to maintain malpractice coverage throughout their participation in the LRS.
LRS allows attorneys to register, manage their practice areas, and manage absences online. In addition, LRS provides around the clock access to the system with a touch of a button. LRS members should also know that the system is flexible. For example, once the panel attorney receives a referral if a conflict arises, the member may assert the conflict. It is the responsibility of the attorney to so inform the LRS within two weeks of the referral date if an appointment is not kept or the client never calls for an appointment.
